Tim: Amazing Experience on a Husky Hike *****

My wife and I booked onto a husky hike with Tapio and his huskies for the final day of our trip in Nuuksio.

From the outset, Tapio was very friendly and made sure that we were always comfortable with the dogs. We each had our own husky to hike with and got to experience their individual personalities. They are beautiful animals and it was a pleasure to spend time with them up close. After a brief discussion about the distance we would like to hike, Tapio guided us around the trails of the national park.

Due to risk of forest fires we were unable to have a fire, however we stopped at a very scenic location where Tapio provided us with a fantastic selection of fresh fruit, pastries and chocolate, as well as coffee and water.

The experience was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. Thanks Tapio!

Absolutely incredible experience and would recommend to anyone visiting the Helsinki area.

Tapio was lovely and provided lots of information about the dogs and happy to answer any questions. He will let you drive the sled and help with setting up the dogs and feeding after.

Traditional Finnish snacks were provided and he catered to dietary requirements (vegan). This was definitely worth the money.

This Huskie experience is just amazing. You can ride the sled yourself, cuddle the huskies, have a nice Finnish sausage and pancake at the fire... This all thanks to Tapio! “What a special day! This truly was a day we’ll never forget and worth every euro.

Easy to reach on public transport from Helsinki, taking less than an hour if you time connections right. Tapio is friendly and knowledgeable and the dogs were just adorable. They love cuddles and attention and were all so well looked after and cared for.

Sledding over the most beautiful frozen lakes behind the dogs was such a special experience. As was the campfire in the woods, cooking sausages, pancakes and marshmallows.

“What a special day! This truly was a day we’ll never Wow, that was one of the best things we've ever done. Tapio is a kind hearted person who puts a smile on your face. He and his husky family are top prepared and have some great stories to share. After we were welcomed and petted the huskies, we were given the chance to drive the dog sled ourselves. That was a very special experience.

One of the highlights is also the break at the campfire with tea/coffee and delicious snacks. Tapio was so nice and organized falafel especially for us, since we are vegetarians. The pancakes were super delicious and will stay in our minds for a long time!

After the break with great conversations, we went back with the dog sleds and then we were allowed to feed the dogs. What a great experience! We will definitely be back. Thanks again Tapio!

I would have left a higher rating when possible, this was unforgettable!

A full experience of getting the dogs installed for the sledge and then in the sun over the frozen lakes, high speed, pulled by real well looked after and ever so sweet husky’s.

For us this was a real expensive experience but it is worth every penny of it.

We drove over three lakes, my son led the sledge with me in it;) We had a break at the other side and ate some sausages and real nice Finnish snacks (you also could choose in advance other snacks) and then back again.
Still in the sun, over the three big lakes, how lucky can you be.

Tapio was a very patient and kind person, thank you for this amazing experience.

The husky dog sled is for sure a must do.

At first we got the opportunity to meet the dogs and take pictures with them. Then we sledded across 3 frozen lakes and had a break around a campfire to roast some sausages and marshmellows.

We even got the opportunity to ride the sled ourselves. In addition, musher Tapio was very good company and taught us a lot about the dogs.

The arctic expedition definitely exceeded our expectations. We were doubting a little because of the price and the cold but it's worth every Euro and the overalls that we got from Tapio kept us warm the entire trip.

Of course the trip itself was amazing but it was also in the details such a Tapio fetching us from the bus stop and dropping us off at the reindeer park afterwards and arranging everything.

Tapio organised a wonderful trip trough the woods. We had good laughs, nice conversations and a great meal. All the dogs were so nice and really wanted to cuddle and attention.

Very unique educational experience!
We had lots of snow ❄️ but we really only felt the cold on our face. Our bodies were warm and toasty thanks to the overalls, boots, hat and gloves we got from Tapio the dog sledding guide and owner. 😀

He is such a friendly and interesting guy, taking all the steps to make you feel comfortable!

We went last week-end for a 3 hours expedition with 2 kids and definitly would recommend it as we all had fun and enjoyed the ride with the lovely Huskies and the kidness and passion from Tapio. He definitly makes all so that you feel confortable.

All was great, from discovering the dogs, the ride, the snack by the fire (quite friendly and kids enjoyed the pancakes a lot) and on top we have been lucky with wonferfull snowy landscapes from Nuuksio under the sun.

A truly wonderful experience! Tapio and his dogs took us on a 3 hour trip on three frozen lakes in Nuuksio. Very nice and huggable huskies, a nice pause with grilled sausage, pancakes and a pot of fresh coffee.

I really liked my tryout as a musher!

Our three kids (3,7,10 yrs) loved it too.

We had an amazing day in the national park. great weather, lots of snow and those adorable dogs with their amazing leader.

i felt very welcome and the introduction was great. you get involved right away and then start your trip as a musher.

After the tour you take care of the dogs and then sit together around a campfire, enjoy a snack and some warm drinks while you review your day.

All in all perfect and definitely worth the money.....

It was an excellent experience just 40min away from Helsinki.

Tapio picked me up at the bus station and introduced me to the dogs. They were all very sweet and friendly.

Tapio is passionate about his dogs and is happy to share his knowledge and experience. We had a break near the lake and ate Finnish sausages and pancakes.

Something that has been on my bucket list for a while now, and I was super happy that I was able to fullfill this dream.

This experience was fantastic. Our super friendly and welcoming tour guide picked us up at the bus station, and took us on a 10min drive to the national park.
Once we have arrived there, we were able to pet the dogs and kind of play with them for a little. Our guide told us something about every dog, some of them were very succesfull sledding dogs which was interesting to know.
After getting introduced to every dog, we all together helped to make the sleds ready, and got told to put dogs on the leash and attach them to the sled.
Once, we were all ready to go, we got a small introduction on how to maneuver a dog sled. I never guessed, that we were able to maneuver the sled on our own. But to me, this experience got even better, because we were in charge of the sled.

Our dog sled ride passed through the beautiful scenery of Espoo national park, we passed a few of Finlands 180.000 lakes and were just overwhelmed by the beauty Finland has to offer.
The dogs were super powerful and it was a great trip through the national park.

The dog sled itself took about 90min. After accomplishing this, we had to feed the dogs and give them water, to say the dogs "Thank you" for this fun adventure.
Once the dogs were fed, it was our turn to eat. Sitting at a nice campfire, our guide served us multiple Finish snacks, like salmon sandwiches, sausages, and typical Finish Korvapuusti. It was super fun to sit at the fire and have a chat with our tour guide, who was super funny and talkative. He introduced and talked about dog sledding which we enjoyed to got to hear more about that.

Overall, I have to say, it was a beautiful experience. I really enjoyed the dog sled ride and the relaxed lunch that we got served.
I can totally recommend this experience and would love to do it again sometime.

We had the most amazing morning with Tapio and the huskies - would recommend this to anyone who his visiting Helsinki or the areas around.

Tapio was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the dogs and Finland in general. We really enjoyed speaking to him the whole time, especially while we ate our lunch by the open fire (which was delicious!). The dogs are amazing and so friendly to play with. We got to help Tapio get the huskies ready and then give them their lunch which added to the whole experience.

The views of the lakes and the national park were spectacular and regular stops means you get to take it all in.

By chance we were the only ones on the morning slot whereas the afternoon slot was full so that was a definite plus of going in the morning. It was only myself and my boyfriend with Tapio, which was really nice!

There wasn’t a massive amount of snow but it didn’t matter! We went on a dog cart instead with Tapio on the back and it so fun and still really fast.

Thanks so much Tapio for the best morning! Hopefully we can return again soon

My boyfriend and I went here on our trip to Helsinki, and it was the highlight of our trip.

The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming, and made it known that the dogs health and well-being was top of mind.

We got a chance to meet all the dogs, then go on a beautiful ride around the lake with a chance to stop and get pictures.

We ended the afternoon by a fire in the woods roasting sausage and marshmallows, exchanging travel stories. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Finland.

Say hi to the dogs for me when you go (I miss them already).

We had a great day out with Tapio & his Huskies despite the lack of snow we were hoping for.

It was good to meet Tapio's beautiful dogs & also his assistant Anthony & his dogs & it was evident that they are all well looked after & cared for by Tapio & Anthony.

We were a group of 6 & so there were many dogs for our 3 dog carts .
Although we were hoping for snow & sleds it was such fun on the dog carts & the Huskies clearly loved it .
After our adventure through the forest with the dogs it was good to warm up by the fire & enjoy the hot food cooked on the open fire.The pancakes were particularly tasty.
I would definitely recommend this experience with Tapio .

My boyfriend booked this trip for my birthday and it was incredible!

We went on the 3 hour morning trip today and from the second we arrived we absolutely loved it. The two guides of the trip were so friendly and had a passion for the dogs. The guides were also really kind as they offered to pick us up and drop us off to somewhere convenient for us.

They introduced each dog one by one and we had about 40 minutes with the dogs before we went into the cart and through the forest. As it wasn’t snowing, we went into a cart that the dogs pulled and this was just as fun of an experience.

We stopped halfway at a beautiful lake where we had some food provided for us by the guides around a campfire, there was sausages, a selection of sandwiches and to finish off we toasted some marshmallows. We also got to try some Finnish coffee.

The dogs were so loving, excitable and good natured, each of them had their own personality.

All in all, this was a one in a lifetime experience and we absolutely loved it! Highly recommend for everyone who is a dog lover!

Tapio is the creator of the Arctic expedition, the owner of the dogs and the customer support. He answered my emails really efficiently and helped us to arrange our activity.

It was among the most important things to do in Finland for us, during our trip and even we missed the snow, it was amazing.

Freya, Combo, Cinnamon, Ellas, Nimba, Beta & Nappi were amazing dogs. So friendly and so happy to run. The mushing experience to be honest is mostly a sharing time with the dogs and being able to take care of them before and after the run was really nice.

Of course the social part with the open fire and Finnish treats was really good too.

If you cannot go to Lapland, don't hesitate to go with Tapio, you won't regret the experience, he is passionate and love his dogs. Just remember to come ready with proper clothes to face the cold, and the dirtiness of the road.

Amazing experience - Tapio was very meticulous and professional. It is a popular activity and I am very pleased with the entire experience after being on the wait list for a month. Tapio constantly followed up with me and updated me on whether a slot would open up.

The dogs were very friendly, and a dream come true for any dog lover. The coffee/ tea and home made snacks were a hearty treat after the sledding experience!

Tapio and his team work hard and I would truly recommend everyone who is in Helsinki to take a short journey (less than 1 hour by train and bus from Helsinki main station) to visit Tapio and the dogs!

What can I say. This was the highlight if my trip to Helsinki. Tapio was amazing and made myself and 3 others so comfortable and feel safe we are all ages from 24 to over 60. He taught us how to drive the husky cart which was amazing and taught us the commands for the dogs.

All of the husky were beautiful so well behaved and very very friendly. if you are an animal lover trust me you will love this to see the huskies so excited was amazing. The 3 hours experience was worth every penny!

We were picked up from the bus stop and returned, it was super easy to get to via the train and the bus from Helsinki. The campfire was brilliant and was such a beautiful moment to take in the scenery and enjoy some Finnish food.

The whole experience was fabulous and worth every single penny. I have made memories for life and am so happy I booked this experience this is a MUST do for any one who loves nature and animals!

This was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had! All of the staff were super nice and were very fun! We got to get to meet all of the huskies and take a beautiful ride through the Finnish wilderness. Afterwards we had a great campfire meal. It’s also a great location and easy to access from Helsinki.

Just finished our 3 hour husky hike and to say it was amazing is an understatement.

The guide (Tapio) was very friendly and very informative and the huskies were beautiful and extremely well behaved. We got to have sausages and marshmallows on an open fire (we were also very well catered for as I’m a vegan, and they also cater for other needs too).

So, to anyone looking for a great day out, please check out Arctic Expedition! We will easily be doing it again when we are next back in Espoo, I can’t put into enough words to explain how great it was!🤗

This is one of the most amazing and best experiences I have ever done! It is run by one of the nicest man I have ever come across who has a love and passion for what he does and makes it the most amazing experience!

The dogs are so friendly and just love to be with you and play with you! Everything about this from start to finish is brilliant !

I would not leave Helsinki without going here the price is very good for the amount of time you get and also just for the experience!

What a day, what a day. - We had a nice 3-hour Arctic Expedition 3h -experience. Our route took us over three different completely frozen lakes. Halfway, we had a nice break by the fire, cooking sausages and marshmallows, enjoying that special coffee/tea and enjoying of ‘Finnish traditional snack’ in the peaceful wintery wonderland of Nuuksio National Park.

The husky ride was the highlight of our Finland trip!

The kids loved it so much they still talked about it until now. I was hesitated at first since we're bringing a 6 months old baby with us, but he also seemed to enjoy the ride. He only cried when he's hungry and when getting ready for the second lap, and he stopped crying instantly when the ride start, I can see him smiling from ear to ear

The dogs are very friendly and super cute. Tapio is very responsive to our messages, gave detailed informations on how to get there, and our arrangements worked out very well.

Would definitely recommend this
